Start with the background

Look at your walls, floor and largest furniture pieces. Choose a planter that belongs to those existing tones. Cream can lighten a dark corner visually, while a deeper olive finish can make foliage feel especially rich.

Mix texture, not everything

Pair a smooth pot with a woven rug or a timber side table. Let one texture be prominent and keep the others quieter. If every object is patterned, the plant's outline can disappear into the arrangement.

Leave breathing room

Place the plant where its leaves have room to spread and where you can reach the pot. Keep a clear patch of wall behind a sculptural shape if possible. Finish by removing one unnecessary accessory. A room that feels settled often contains fewer competing ideas, with the plant providing the gentle irregularity that manufactured objects cannot.
