A ten-minute plant check for the weekend

A short, regular inspection can help you notice changes before they become confusing. It does not need to involve watering every plant, polishing every leaf or buying another care product. Make the routine small enough that you will actually keep it.

Walk through once

Look at each plant in its usual position. Notice new growth, fallen leaves and changes in colour. Check the surface of the growing medium and the weight of the pot where practical. Decide what needs attention individually.

Look a little closer

Inspect underneath a few leaves and around stems. Wipe accumulated dust gently from suitable broad leaves with a soft damp cloth. Different leaf surfaces need different handling, so avoid treating every plant in exactly the same way.

Finish with one useful action

Empty any standing water in outer pots, remove fallen material, or make a note to investigate an unfamiliar mark. Take a photograph if something has changed. Keep the care label nearby and resist guessing at a treatment. A calm, repeatable check is more valuable than a complicated routine that changes every week.
